Do not buy any plants from them after two weeks my potted plants died of pot soil drainage and no type of exchange or replacement. $23.00 for a hanging basket with terrible soil.

I've been going here for years but after today, never again. I went to get garden soil. They had the small bags out front with a sign on it saying if you want larger bags, you can purchase them and pick them up in the back, so I did that. When I went out back, there was no one there and the bags didn't exist. Then some guy with a grey goatee came out to help and has no business in public services. Needless to say, this guy was no help and doesn't know the products. He tried to tell me the wrong bags were it. I told him what he was pointing at was for shrubs, not a garden. Then he told me they are all the same. I reiterated, they are not, and this stuff is not meant for garden vegetable, it's for shrubs, just look at the bag. Then he said they have them out front with the smaller bags, contrary to the sign to get them out back. They were not out front. Then he said they didn't have it. Then I got a little upset at this point because of him giving me bad info. For the record, the Southern States employee threw out an F bomb first and told me to leave after telling him I was going to get reimbursed. If you all want to get in shouting and cursing matches with your customers, good luck.

Our Mount Airy Southern States has it all. We loaded up on birdseed, propane, suet, and a few other needs. We met Hank the Squirrel and talked to the baby chicks.

We've shopped at this store several times and have always found staff to be friendly, helpful and efficient. The store sells seasonal plants, including veggies and flowers, and I always enjoy browsing the store and finding something unique that I wouldn't find at a "big box" store.
